Southern Coast Tours

Cycling along the longest stretch of beach in Southern Africa, on the Southernmost tip of Africa on your very own fat bike is what Fat Attack Southern Coast is all about.

The beautiful L’Agulhas region is your home for 2 days on your rented Rapid Fat Cat Pro Fat Bike.

At a cost of only R2850 pp and limited to a group of 20 riders, this is one not to miss.  See package details below.

It’s not a Race – unless you want to make it one … The Fat Attack concept is to ride as a group, stop to catch your breath, snap a pic, refreshments at De Mond nature reserve all while taking in this untouched stretch of pristine coastline.

If you want to arrive early, you can book in at the Arniston Hotel the night before to ensure you are fresh for the morning start.

Day 1

Arniston Hotel – just 200km drive from Cape Town – is our starting point.  Riders will park their cars in the secure Arniston Hotel parking lot and be loaded into the transport provided. From here its a quick trip to our starting point at Die Dam caravan park. Here is where you will meet up with your Rapid Cat Pro fat bike that will carry you on this unique journey over the next two days.

Day 1 is a mixture of hard pack beach riding, exclusive inland single tracks through protected fynbos and plenty of opportunity’s to stop and take in all the beauty that the L’ Agulhas coastline has to offer. Day 1 finishes off with a sighting of the HMS Birkenhead, one of 140 shipwrecks that litter the Southern Most coastline. A quick photo stop at the ever popular Southern Most point before its full steam ahead to the accommodation in Struis-Baai.

Distance for the day – 42km

Day 2

As we make our way back to the beautiful Arniston Hotel, we might be lucky and enjoy a pleasant tail wind for the trip home.   A later start for those wanting to sleep in and perhaps catch an early swim in the warm Indian ocean, all this can be arranged.   Prior to departure breakfast shall be served and your bags placed in the luggage truck. It’s 28kms of pure beach, along the longest stretch of unbroken beach in Southern Africa. This part of the ride has been referred to as a “beach safari”.

The wildlife ranges from whales to seals to crabs and an abundance of protected bird species. We truly live in a beautiful part of the world and seeing this coastline with your own eyes is something that only a few people get to experience.

Distance for the day – 32km
